Arms manufacturer
He is a generally nice guy who enjoys science and engineering. He was always a bit nerdy and got picked on when he was younger. He idolized the mad scientists from books and movies. He wanted to be feared and respected like them and still has a bit of that left in him. He loves making cool things and watching what the products of his mind can do. He wants to understand things and make something wonderful of them. The secrets of the universe are tool to him. His interpersonal skills have suffered a bit due to his social isolation. He had few friends and many enemies, so he tends to view them through that lens. People are scary and dangerous to him on a subconscious level. While he tries to be nice and friendly, there is always a part of him looking for the knife. He does not trust things to get deep, but has learned to develop superficial relationships that work for him. He has colleagues and customers. He has people he calls friends, but most are of the fair weather sort. He is nice on the outside and keeps the inside guarded.
History:
He was born into a family of shifters who found their employment in the sciences. His mother was an engineer and his father a biologist. They worked for large companies and secretly experimented with the members of their clan to try to unlock the secrets behind shifting. As he got older he started to get involved in their work as well. He was an easy test subject to find and always eager to help. They cared for him well and tried to nurture the growing scientist in him. He spent his days helping them or doing his own little projects when not at school.
And that was always the problem. At home, in the lab, he was awesome. When he left its protection the bigger, stronger, or just more popular kids ruled. He was the person you went to for help with homework not the one you hung out with. If you needed to bond socially by collectively attacking someone, he was a prime target. At first it was that he was small. Then it was the glasses. By the time things stabilized he was an outcast for being an outcast and geek. It was just his lot in life.
It did not matter to him though. Or at least that was what he told himself. He dove into his work and studies. His parents were wealthy enough to pay for his hobbies and he eventually turned them into a career. He had his own workshop and built all sorts of neat things for science fairs and projects. When he got out he bounced through several sorts of training picking up various skills to help him make the things he wanted. Now he builds weapons and sells them to whomever wants them. He makes the prototypes for himself or for his coworkers. Others take care of management and getting customers. He enjoys the work and they let him build crazy things. Its a match made in heaven.
As the company expanded, Oliver and several of his coworkers were transfered to a new facility in Palyra. It was uncomfortable to be so far from home, but he has been adjusting. Home was really wherever his workshop was to be honest. This home was new in location, and slightly new in design, but the most important parts were there.
